APRA HD Transmission Clinic to Visit ArvinMeritor and Eaton

CHANTILLY, VIRGINIA – The Automotive Parts Remanufacturers Association
(APRA) will be hosting a Heavy Duty Transmission Clinic on May 4 & 5, 2007
at The Holiday Inn Select at the Indianapolis Airport in Indianapolis,
Indiana.
The Clinic will get off to a great start with two educational plant tours on
Friday, May 4th. The first plant will be ArvinMeritor’s Remanufacturing
Center in Plainfield, Indiana, where the group will see axle carrier, manual
transmission and brake components remanufacturing. The second tour will be
of Eaton’s Remanufacturing Plant in Greenfield, Indiana, to observe their
transmission remanufacturing center at work. After the tours everyone is
invited to a “Welcome to Indianapolis” reception.
Gary Phillips, Chairman, of APRA’s Heavy Duty Transmission Division will
open the technical session on Saturday, May 5th at 8:00 a.m. First on the
agenda is Doug Wolma, General Manager of ArvinMeritor remanufacturing who
will discuss the market and ArvinMeritor’s approach to meeting customer
demands. He will be followed by Robert Galyen of TAWAS ICMS who will talk
about the opportunities that lie ahead for remanufacturing hybrid drive
system battery packs and electronics. Stuart Purdy of Zurich will then talk
about making intelligent business decisions regarding business insurance.
Gene Hales of Reliable Transmission will cover diagnostic and
remanufacturing tips on a variety of Allison Transmission models during a
hands-on presentation. The technical session will conclude with a speaker
from Eaton who will discuss their product lines and future directions.
