Clemens Ortgies, the 55-year old Managing Director of Bucker & Essing, BU Drive’s HD engine reman division, is the new President of  the European Association of Engine Rebuilders, FIRM.

Ortgies was elected to succeed Philippe Maertens of Belgium at FIRM’s Annual General Meeting during the Automechanika exhibition in Frankfurt-am-Main, Germany, last week. Maertens has held the post of President since 2010.

As head of BU Drive’s engine activities, Ortgies has, in recent years, been an active player on the international remanufacturing scene and sought-after lecturer at conferences and seminars. A mechanical engineer (Dipl.-Ing. TU) by education, he has 30 years’ experience with application, manufacturing and remanufacturing of engines.

Building on the work of his predecessor, Ortgies sees the next step as “acquiring new members."
